The difference between the basic types of honey

Natural honey :

According to definitions in developed countries, honey is distinguished by the type of flower nectar that bees make from different plants so that its product can be called natural honey .

The color of natural honey is light , it is one of the finest , and it may be a little dark . Its aroma is pleasant and indicates the type of flowers from which the bees were collected , and the taste of it is very sweet and is distinguished by its delicious taste .

Honey bees have an innate power to distinguish beneficial flowers from those that are useless . Bees attract all medicinal plants and their flowers with great attention to take the extract of these beautiful and useful flowers and give them to us in the best way , and this is completely natural honey rich in nutrients and can meet most of the nutritional needs of humans because it contains All the elements , minerals and vitamins provided by flowers to make honey and make it absorbable into the blood .

In order to make sure that honey is natural and that the bees feed on the nectar of flowers and not on the sugar provided by the beekeeper because of the harsh cold in the winter and the scarcity of pastures and flowers , there are several methods for this , including calculating the percentage of moisture and solids dissolved in honey , so natural honey has a moisture content of between 14 to 18 % This percentage varies according to the season and climatic conditions .

natural honey can be known from the density and weight , which depends on the percentage of water in honey . Pure honey is higher in density than adulterated honey , reaching 1.407 grams per cubic centimeter , and in other ways that distinguish pure honey from adulterated honey .

Nutritional honey :

Due to its many characteristics and its relatively high price , honey has always been of interest to recipients who earn a lot of money through manipulation and fraud in honey production .

Sometimes honey is made mainly from the artificial feeding of bees or a solution of water and sugar or juice of grapes and berries or adding sugar , starch and distilled water to bee food and is sold in place of natural honey .

Nutritional honey does not contain any smell and has a pleasant taste and certainly the properties of honey flowers . Here we do not consider it natural honey and its quality is ten times less than the quality of natural honey . Artificial or nutritional honey is somewhat suitable for feeding bees and is not very important for humans .

In some countries , honey is sometimes mixed with sugar or liquid glucose in various ways and is a form of honey extraction fraud .

Industrial honey :

Honey-like substances and compounds are manufactured without the interference of bees and they usually use sugar cane and sweet fruits such as watermelon , squash , dates and pumpkin to make such honey .

Although it is referred to as honey , this variety is not honey but is obtained by concentrating the juices artificially .

Fake honey :

Some small insects such as aphids feed on different plants and secrete excess carbohydrates on the surface of plant leaves , and in cases where nectar is scarce in nature , bees are forced to collect these sugars in addition to other sweet plant secretions ( other than flower nectar ) and store them inside the frame cells until they are transformed To honey .

This type of honey has a lower quality in terms of aroma , color and ingredients than natural honey because this type of honey is darker than regular honey and contains less amount of levulose and dextrose .

Compound sugars , minerals and nitrogen are more acidic than regular honey , and the amount of minerals such as potassium , phosphorous and iron in honey is more than regular honey , and these elements , especially the potassium salt in honey , are not suitable for winter feeding for bees because it causes some diseases .

Poisonous honey :

Honey produced from some toxic plants has been shown to be harmful to humans and can cause poisoning and complications such as vomiting , dizziness and imbalance because it contains toxic glucose . This type of honey is not toxic to bees and is easily consumed by bees .

In areas where poisonous plants grow , beekeepers collect honey as bees can use these areas to produce wax and beehives . There are also some plants whose nectar and pollen are toxic , and the resulting honey is toxic to humans .

Poisonous honey is harmful to humans and causes side effects such as vomiting , dizziness , and severe stomach pain , but it does not have the slightest effect on the bee itself , so it can be consumed during the winter to feed bees on it .

In a study conducted : The study showed that feeding 10 grams of toxic honey to experimental pigs causes jaw twitching , vomiting and seizures, while eating 14 grams of it leads to death in other animals .

Radiant honey :

In some kinds of honey , there is a very small amount of radium in it as this property is related to the soil in which the honey plants have grown .
