Types of honey

Just as flowers differ in size , color , shape , and aroma , as well as their nectar , we find that there is color , taste and density of different types of honey derived from the smell and composition of the flowers that the bee landed on .

Honey is distinguished by its unique natural properties from other foods in terms of nutrition and in terms of the importance of each type of honey from a medical and nutritional point of view , and this is what beekeepers realize and try to provide honey to customers in the most attractive way possible , and this is also what makes there a difference between the different types of honey .

Therefore, in this article , we will shed light on the types of honey , the difference between them , the characteristics of each type and its benefits , so come with us on this tour :

The difference between the types of honey :

The chemical composition of each type of honey is related to the type of vegetation , climatic conditions , and types of bees . Each type of honey is classified from different points of view according to its characteristics or condition .

There are different types of honey that exceed 37 types , as the smell , taste and density of honey depend on the type of flowers and their nectar , so what is the difference between the types of honey ?

Types of honey in different flowers and seasons :

1 - Single flower honey :

Beekeepers collect nectar honey from a specific flower , such as clover honey , acacia honey , or sunflower honey .

It is noted that pure single-flower honey is obtained with great difficulty , so we find that its prices are high .

2 - Honey produced from a few flowers :

The beekeeper collects honey produced from the nectar of several flowers such as mountain honey , citrus honey , and honey from a variety of fruit trees .

This type is characterized by being commensurate with the production time , its production is very abundant and its prices are reasonable because it is available at most times of the year .

3 - Spring honey :

It is the honey that is produced from flowers that usually appear in the spring , such as citrus honey , acacia honey , and fruit trees ( such as cherries , apricots , and peaches that begin to appear in the spring ) that beekeepers collect in early spring .

It is distinguished by a distinctive flavor because it is saturated with spring flowers from citrus and fruits and has a refreshing scent that gives you the scent of the flowers that it was produced from , and it is available and its price is very reasonable .

4 - Autumn honey :

It is produced from mid-summer to early fall and is suitable in production , but the beekeeper finds it difficult to produce because after a harsh winter bees find great trouble in collecting nectar due to the scarcity of nectar and pollen in this season , and the emergence of some diseases during this period due to the weakness of the bees , which may lead To the destruction of the beehive , so the beekeeper is forced to feed the bees with sugary solutions with an amount of natural honey to improve the bee's diet and produce a good type .

An example of autumnal honey is the mountain honey produced in Saint Catherine in the South Sinai Governorate in the Badia and produced from Sidr trees .

5 - Summer honey :

Its color is dark and opaque and it is expensive , and summer honey is one of the best types of honey due to the abundance of pasture and the ideal climate for bees and their breeding . It is also distinguished by its many types as a result of the diversity of flowers in the summer .

An example of summer honey : Samra honey , which is produced in the summer from brown trees , and pasture honey , which is produced from tree blossoms and flowers found in various pastures .

Types of honey in different colors :

There are different types of honey that differ from each other :

Color difference : the colors of honey differ between different species according to different bee pastures , which have a strong effect on honey color .

The quality of the nectar flowers that bees land on also affects the honey color .

The chemical composition of the soil and the minerals it contains and on which flowers are grown have a strong effect on the difference in the color of honey from one species to another .

And there is another reason , which is the wax discs formed by the bees in the hive that affect the honey color . The more new it is , the lighter the honey is , and the old tablets give dark honey .

- Colorless honey , like acacia honey .

- Honey is light or dark amber , like clover honey .

- Yellow honey , such as pumpkin honey and sunflower honey .

- Black honey , such as black seed and sugar cane honey .

- White honey as cotton honey .

- Red honey like garnet , like thyme honey .

Green honey , such as wheatgrass honey and honey produced in the Alsace region in France , in which bees feed on the remnants of a factory that makes mint syrup , which made the honey produced green in color .

Honey that is proportional to how it was produced and extracted :

Such as liquid honey , crystallized honey , a mixture of liquid honey with pure honey , and honey with wax .
